More than a book of stitches, an adventure in design

When I am teaching a group of stitchers, I am always amazed when several tell me they don’t think they could design a project. Amybear’s Pattern Adventure is a book with a hundred and fifty-eight stitches (the same ones used in Rhapsody and Romance ) that intends to supply the stitcher with the necessary designing tools. There are three levels: advanced, intermediate, and beginner.

The advanced level can create freely, selecting threads (or using their stash), and working the stitch diagrams in their own original design. Or, included are sheets of small shapes that may be cut apart and manipulated into a design, then transferred to canvas. The intermediate stitcher may pick one of the provided design templates while applying their own creative choice of threads and stitches. For the “new” stitcher, I have included a fully charted pattern designed in Caron Watercolours. All levels work on 18ct mono, or 22/24 congress cloth.
